⎯ With over 15 years of experience as a designer, I have a passion for creating interfaces that connect people and experiences. Currently, as a product design specialist, I lead Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects focused on B2B applications at Itaú Emps - I also serve as the design lead in Itaú AI Chapter. In addition to leading impactful projects, I aim to contribute to the training and development of teams, uniting people, knowledge, and processes with short to long term strategic visions. Before joining Itaú Emps, I had the great privilege of contributing for 9 years, making an impact in business and society through my experience in three unicorn startups: Creditas, iFood, and 99app.
My participation in the Artificial Intelligence at DPW24
I participated in the panel on User Experience and Artificial Intelligence at the 7th edition of Digital Product Week 2024, the largest free and online event for Digital Product professionals in Brazil. It was a great honor to represent Itaú Emps, a business bank focused on SMEs, as a Product Design and AI Specialist.
In 45 minutes, we discussed the design of probabilistic interfaces with generative AI, how this technology is transforming our design approach, acting as a partner that can responsibly increase not only our efficiency and creativity but directly impact business indicators.
We discussed AI models and the importance of prompt engineering not only for designers but for all professionals involved in digital product development. We addressed the problem of AI "hallucinations" and mentioned techniques such as "Chain of Thoughts" to increase the accuracy of responses.
At the end, we shared personal experiences and some market cases, such as Bank of America's virtual assistant Erica, with recent indicators of business impact.
I participated alongside Milena Mariano, CX and AI Manager for Individuals at Itaú Unibanco. The panel was moderated by Luan Mateus, also from Itaú Unibanco and creator of Papo de UX.
A little more about me
Born in 1985 in São Paulo, I began my life in the southern zone of São Paulo and have always nurtured an interest in art, comics, and nerd culture since childhood. I was greatly inspired by my grandfather, Raimundo Nonato, an entrepreneur from Maranhão who was vice-president of Bozzano in the 80s and founded a cosmetics company in São Paulo.
I started my professional career at 15, in 2000, at ETE Albert Einstein, where I installed networks and software, which allowed me to build my first computer and introduced me to the universe of user interfaces.
The next stage of my journey was in advertising beginning in 2006, where I worked in advertising agencies such as 10' minutos S.A, A1 Brasil and One Digital. I served high-profile clients such as Bradesco, Nintendo, Adidas, Fox, P&G, Telecine, and Vivo, among others. Parallel to this, I founded my own agency, focusing on products for VOIP (Voice over IP), proudly serving companies such as Graber Rastreamento, Impacta Tecnologia, Vivo, and Magazine Luiza.
Feeling out of place in the world of advertising, I changed my trajectory to product design, starting my career at Portal iG. It was there that I fell in love with mobile interface and had the honor of witnessing the editor-in-chief of iG, Eduardo Oinegue, today the presenter of Jornal da Band, appreciate my work that was printed on my desk and share it with the executives to reinforce a mobile plan.
After IG and the challenging stint at Gonow consultancy, I moved to Portal UOL in 2012. For nearly four years, I worked on projects such as Placar UOL, UOL Copa, UOL Elections, Interface for Google TV, UOL Olympics, and UOL Finances. It was a memorable time, which also coincided with my personal life, as I got married and began to reflect on the direction of my career.
Deciding to have more autonomy and mastery of product design, I left UOL for Netshoes, where I witnessed an application being completely redone and had the opportunity to actively participate in this process. From there, in 2016 my path led me to 99app, where I faced moments of crisis and learned valuable lessons about resilience and innovation. It was also during this phase that I embraced the journey of fatherhood, with the birth of my first son, Pedro.
With the sale of 99 to Didi Chuxing, I felt it was time for a new challenge and began a new journey at iFood, the largest delivery company in Latin America, where I worked in the three main areas of business: consumer, restaurant, and logistics. At iFood, I had the opportunity to contribute to improving the user experience and help transform the company from a simple delivery platform into a multifunctional hub that served various markets, such as supermarkets and pharmacies.
All this was possible thanks to new logistics modalities we created, and innovative projects, like the new checkout and the order tracking system, which elevated iFood's delivery experience to a new level. I joined the company when it recorded 7 million orders per month and left when it had already reached the mark of 40 million.
After iFood, in August 2020, I had the great opportunity to work at Creditas, where I faced some of the biggest challenges of my career, especially in the midst of a pandemic. At Creditas, I was able to exercise some technical leadership and lead major projects, such as the vision and redesign of the Creditas app. Additionally, I actively participated in projects that generated significant savings for the company, including reducing financial losses by R$10 million.
During my journey at Creditas, I also experienced one of the most important moments of my personal life: the birth of my second child, Lucas.
Today, as I look towards the future, I continue with a great purpose: just as I was shaped by great professionals, I also want to contribute to the development of others. With more collaboration and co-creation, knowledge, processes, and alignment with business strategy, especially now that tools have evolved with AI and will continue to change not only our way of working but also the world.
